The U.S. English Foundation (http://www.usefoundation.org/foundation/), a non-partisan organization devoted to English language education, has partnered with Mingoville (http://www.mingoville.com), an English language e-learning platform, to offer free online English language courses for Americans. The courses can be used to teach kids English at a young age, as well as teaching English as a second language to adult immigrants from a wide variety of countries and primary languages.
"There is no substitute for English fluency in the United States," says Mauro E. Mujica, CEO and Chairman of the Board for U.S. English. "It is often the difference between being independent and relying on help from others, between a dependable income and inconsistent employment, between sending a child to college and continuing the cycle of poverty. Only by working toward English acquisition by all Americans will we ensure that the United States continues to be a true melting pot and that our people can reach their full potential."
Mingoville's online English language program is completely free, with programs accessible from any computer with an Internet connection. Mingoville has been used to teach English as a second language to hundreds of thousands of students across the globe, and focuses on an "edutainment" model (http://www.de.mingoville.com/content/view/17/31/lang,en/) that appeals to children, designed to combine education and entertainment to make learning English fun and easy.
"Mingoville provides English instruction at any time, virtually anywhere, removing some of the most commonly cited barriers to English learning," says Mujica on why U.S. English supports Mingoville as a prime tool for learning the English language. "With Mingoville, the opportunity to learn English is just a click away, and through our special partnership, [it's free. English learners will be able to practice their English skills and take advantage of hundreds of lessons and activities at their pace and on their time, putting English acquisition within reach."
Parents can sign their children up to use Mingoville's free online English lessons, featuring English games for kids, by visiting http://www.usefoundation.org/foundation/programs/mingoville.asp.
