Local Retailer Play Outdoors Sponsors Active Kids Outdoor Event andFundraiser



Play Outdoors (http://www.playoutdoors.com/), a local retailer focused on getting kids outdoors, sponsored the U.S. Bank Kid'ss Mini Pole Pedal Paddle fund raising event Sunday, May 17, 2009. With proceeds benefiting the non-profit leading youth sports training organization, Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation (MBSEF), the Mini Pole Pedal Paddle followed the day after the adult-level competition but was tailored to kids in grades first through sixth.



The competitive event coordinates teams of six who river raft, bike, navigate an obstacle course, and then run to cross the finish line, all on and along the Deschutes River. CEO of Play Outdoors Sarah Laufer said, We believe in supporting an event designed to get kids outside (http://blog.playoutdoors.com/) and the Mini PPP does just that. It teaches kids to work together as a team, builds confidence and gets them outside to have fun. We proudly support this annual event as it embodies the same values as Play Outdoors.



This is the second year Play Outdoors was present with a tent featuring kids outdoor clothes (http://www.playoutdoors.com/shop_activity.aspxaid=7's38;cid=0), toys, and gear ideal for active kids and families. With warm sunshine all day, the tent held a raffle with prizes such as an SPF lip balm that was in high demand, and even a few lucky winners took home Play Outdoors tote bags perfect for day-adventures. It is not surprising that a number of the avid adult competitors are also proud parents of Mini participants, and the event was an ideal way to share with our kids the fun, active lifestyle that will benefit them for years to come, continues Laufer.



The Play Outdoors shop and Campfire blog are dedicated to get kids outdoors with gear, articles and links for parents to reference creative ideas for year-round outdoor fun. The Kid'ss Mini Pole Pedal Paddles is one way Play Outdoors connects with the community and supports teaching kids an active lifestyle.
