Road of Life is looking forward to working in partnership with the Auglaize/Mercer Counties YMCA and the Minster Local Schools as the two organizations deliver Fit to Achieve: Good
Decisions for Life, a children's8217;s nutrition education program. On September 28, 2006, the Auglaize/Mercer Counties YMCA and the Minster Local Schools together accepted $30,000 in
support of the program.
Established in 2006 by the Dannon Company, the Dannon Next Generation Nutrition Grant encourages health education and contributes up to $30,000 to programs that seek to foster healthy
habits in students within communities where Dannon facilities are located.
The grant from the Dannon Company will enable the Auglaize/Mercer Counties YMCA and the Minster Local Schools to deliver the Fit to Achieve: Good Decisions for Life program to 887
students in first through twelfth grade. The two organizations will work together to integrate classroom activities which will help students to develop a positive outlook about nutrition
and healthy eating. Specifically, students will benefit from various programs including: Feelin's8217; Good Mileage Club, Dietary Journal and Nutrition Olympics.
Road of Life is eager to collaborate with the Auglaize/Mercer Counties Family and the Minster Local School District to impart vital health information to students in Auglaize County. The
organization is excited about providing its comprehensive cancer prevention program to students participating in the Fit to Achieve: Good Decisions for Life program. Road of Life wants to
educate as many students as possible about the importance of nutrition and physical activity so that they can live healthier lives with a significantly reduced risk of cancer and other
diseases of excess, such as heart disease and diabetes. 's8220;We are thrilled to partner with two organizations that clearly share our commitment to raising a healthier, happier
generation,'s8221; says Donica's8217; Beckett, Director of Program Outreach at Road of Life.
