TeachForward Founder Joins Board

i>

Columbus, OH October 15, 2006 -- Rob Lucas, a member of the inaugural class of Reynolds Social Entrepreneurship Fellows at Harvard University and founder of TeachForward, a ground-breaking online resource for teachers, was inducted into Road of Life's8217;s Board of Directors on September 11, 2006.

Lucas recently completed his master's8217;s degree in Technology, Innovation and Education. He will be an asset to the board because of his sincere interest in today's8217;s students. As a sixth grade social studies teacher with Teach for America, Lucas realized that great lessons can change students's8217; lives.

Even so, he also discovered that while those invested in teaching are constantly engaged with students, they often feel isolated from their colleagues. He found that this isolation would often leave the most creative, finely-tuned lessons collecting dust in filing cabinets. Lucas thought that if teachers were able to actively share their most effective lessons with their colleagues, students would benefit from an extensive library of creative, finely-tuned, engaging and exciting lessons.

Teachers will be able to benefit from their colleagues's8217; great lessons when the online lesson-sharing community Lucas has created makes its debut at www.teachforward.org this fall. The site will enable educators to search for, rate and discuss great lessons from teachers across the country. The open-source format of the website will allow them to download, revise, and repost their lesson plans for the benefit of future users.

Lucas is truly excited to utilize his expertise in education and technology as a member of Road of Life's8217;s board. Specifically, he is looking forward to helping the organization to continue to use technology in fresh, exciting ways as he brings Road of Life's8217;s health intervention curriculum into the online community he has created. He also brings his experience teaching and developing to the table, and he is excited to work on improving Road of Life's8217;s curriculum.

In TeachForward, Lucas looks to provide educators with an invaluable resource which encourages them to be creative rather than lackadaisical. Clearly, Lucas is not one to let an opportunity pass by him. He views his position on the board as another avenue to actively reaching students, as enabling them to make healthy lifestyle choices at a young age will help them to live long and happy lives.
