January 20, 2005 -- At the Horizon Science Academy we offer small class sizes, a structured environment, one on one tutoring, as well as clubs (match club, science club...) and
extra-curricular activities including national and international trips. By combining college preparatory academics with career oriented science and mathematics, we are able to better
prepare our students for their future. Before a student graduates from the Horizon Science Academy they will have worked with counselors to match them up with a college that can
accommodate their interests.
We just don't talk to the student about their college applications but we walk with them during their applications and help them find scholarships. Because the Horizon Science Academy has
already established schools in Cleveland,Columbus and Toledo, we have been able to build solid relationships with several well-known colleges. For example, we are affiliated with Case
Western, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Ohio State, University of Cincinnati, Ohio University, and Cleveland State.
In fact, the first student in Ohio to graduate from a charter school to go on to attend Massachussetts Institute of Technology (MIT) graduated from the Horizon Science Academy in
Cleveland, Ohio.
We will have grades from 5 - 12 by adding one grade each year. We are currently accepting applications for 5-6 grades for the second half of 2004-2005 school year which will start on Jan
25. We are accepting applications for 5-8 grades for 2005-2006 school year. We, at the Horizon Science Academy, strongly feel that this new school that will focus on mathematics, science,
and technology will greatly benefit the community.
