This Common Childhood Fear Is Addressed with Some Surefire Imagination

April 20, 2005 -- More and more families move several times during a child's school years - whether just across town, across the country, or overseas.

With each move, a child must make new friends. The problem of making new friends is even an issue as a child moves from day care or home to school.

In Making New Friends by Jacqueline H. Blumenstock and David C. Pool (2005, $14.95 hc,www.thebigbrownbox.com), TJ is hesitant at first about going out to meet the kids in his new neighborhood.

Then, while playing with one of the moving boxes, TJ is surprised when the box comes to life! Browny explains that he is there because

of TJ's imagination. Children (and their parents) will enjoy discovering how Browny helps TJ develop the self-confidence to go make new friends. TJ comes to realize it is okay to miss his old friends and to remember the good times they shared.

At the end of the story, Browny is leaving for Virginia, the site of the next book in the Browny Big Box Adventure Series. Children will enjoy using their imagination to discuss all the fun things Browny might do in future books.
