SureFire Introduces Tactical Rail Forends

April 28, 2005 -- SureFire, the world's leading producer of tactical illumination tools, is now manufacturing tactical rail forends for select firearms. The rails are made to 1913 Picatinny specifications. A tactical rail forend is the preferred interface to attach a wide variety of sights and accessories to a firearm, including SureFire's remarkable tactical lights.

SureFire's tactical rails are CNC machined from aerospace-grade aluminum and finished with a mil spec hard anodizing process. The new models fit Remington 870 and Mossberg riot shotguns, the HK MP5 submachinegun and the M4 (or CAR 15) service rifle.

"Best of all," said Cameron Hopkins, SureFire's vice president of sales and marketing. "is the price. SureFire is able to utilize its advanced manufacturing techniques to reduce the cost of our Picatinny-spec rails. Our rail for the Colt M4, for instance, retails for only $195, less than half the going market price."
Additionally, SureFire's rail for the Colt M4(model M73) features a patent pending attachment mechanism that allows for a rock-solid installation without special tools or gunsmithing. The fit is so secure that even laser sights or red dot sights can be attached, without any chance of losing zero from the rail wobbling around.
A major federal law enforcement agency recently tested SureFire's tactical rail for the Colt M4 and declared it the best among the models submitted for the test, purchasing a large quantity.

"No other forend this agency tested was able to hold zero with a laser sight as well as the SureFire M73 forend ," Hopkins said. "Our unique counter-tension attachment system assures a stable mounting platform for target designating lasers or other optical sights."

Another significant improvement in the SureFire rail is the inclusion of ultra-thin protective covers that attach to unused areas on the rail to cover the sharp corners of the Picatinny slots. "Our rail covers are slim and unobtrusive. They don't bulk up the forend like some others. And they're included free with every forend," Hopkins said.

Tactical rail forends are also available for combat shotguns. The M70 and M69 models for Remington and Mossberg pumps allow user to attachment a vertical grip or a SureFire rail-mounted tactical light.

There is also a version for the HK MP5 submachinegun, the model 63.
SureFire is the official tactical flashlight of the NRA. The California-based company manufactures a wide array of weapon-mounted lights, handheld tactical flashlights, tactical rail forends, lasers, edged weapons and sound suppressors.
