This "Prevailing Wage Law - An Understanding of Davis Bacon" Teleconference will prevent contractors and legal counsel from being subject to common traps and pitfalls associated with working on contracts governed by Davis Bacon and the requisite payment of prevailing wage.


January 13, 2006 -- An understanding of the Davis Bacon Act will prevent contractors and legal counsel from being subject to common traps and pitfalls associated with working on contracts governed by Davis Bacon and the requisite payment of prevailing wage. This teleconference will provide insight into the implications of Prevailing Wage Law and the Davis Bacon Act. Topics discussed will enable attendees to enhance their understanding of how to deal with the issues surrounding the Davis Bacon Act. Contractors and employers who work on federal projects subject to the Davis Bacon Act will learn about the different wage determinations, payment of fringe benefits, and the types of projects that are subject to prevailing wage. Attorneys will learn about several issues surrounding prevailing wage law and how to advise their clients who are required to pay prevailing wage how to follow the law and avoid litigation.



Christopher J. Boman is an associate in the Irvine office of Fisher & Phillips LLP. His practice is focused on defending employment related lawsuits and administrative complaints on a variety of issues, including harassment, retaliation, discrimination, workplace violence, employee discipline and termination, and wage and hour, including prevailing wage issues. Mr. Boman represents employers in both state and federal court as well as before state and federal agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement. He also handles multi-party complex and class action litigation, specifically addressing harassment, discrimination, wage and hour, and other various labor and employment issues. Mr. Boman has represented clients before the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board on various issues and also provides preventive advice to clients on various personnel issues. Also, Mr. Boman provides compliance and liability prevention training, and is a frequent speaker for trade groups and associations as well as private employers. He has conducted hundreds of in-house management seminars and training sessions for executives, supervisors, managers, and human resources professionals across the country in all aspects of labor and employment law. Mr. Boman earned a B.A. degree from UCLA; an M.B.A. degree from the Atkinson Graduate School of Management, Williamette University; and a J.D. degree, with honors, from Williamette University College of Law.
