Prior to joining Busby & Associates, Higginbotham was an attorney focusing mainly on Probate and Civil matters. He began his legal career as a Case Manager and Mediator for the Dispute Resolution Center of Harris County.

Higginbotham was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He received his undergraduate degree in 2002 from Stephen F. Austin State University and his law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2007.
