Birmingham Solicitor Appointed Partner With UKs Largest Travel Litigation Team
May 22, 2005 -- A 31-year-old travel litigation expert has been appointed as a Partner, with the Birmingham office of national law firm, Irwin Mitchell (IM).
Suki Chhokar joined IM shortly after qualifying as a solicitor in 1999 and is now promoted to the position of Partner with the firm's Personal Injury division. Suki who is married with two children and lives in Penn, works in the UK's largest International Travel Litigation department, which specialises in representing British holidaymakers who have fallen ill or been injured whilst abroad.
His legal accomplishments have also led to him being short-listed in the Professional Excellence category of the forthcoming 2005 'Jewel Awards' - an annual event that celebrates Asian success and achievement. The awards will be announced next Saturday May 7th in front of more than 1,000 invited guests at the NEC's Hilton Metropole.
In recent years, Suki's work has included a number of headline cases. He represented a number of holidaymakers who were victims of a South African coach crash and recently settled a case involving 15 clients who were subjected to a horrific machete attack in Kenya. He has successfully acted for some of the largest group actions for holiday claims, which have resulted in record levels of damages for cases of this nature. Successful settlements have included a case, which resulted in record damages of 9.3 million and one of the largest ever catastrophic injury cases with International interest, winning damages of 5.4 million.
Away from the office, Suki, a former rugby player with Wulfran RUFC, is a keen golfer and enjoys keeping fit.
