Lawfirms Join Forces to Assist Flood Victims Against Insurance Companies Who Refuse to Pay for Flood Damage
In the wake of overwhelming rainfall and severe flooding in Long Island, Cory Rosenbaum, Esq. of Martinez, Rosenbaum & Faria (NYC) and Silverberg & Goodman, P.C., (Garden City, NY) are assisting Long Island flood victims against their homeowner's and flood insurance carriers.
Cory Rosenbaum became involved in fighting for the coverage people paid for from his own personal experience after the flood. "My house had four and a half inches of water across the entire first floor. I called my broker expecting to be reimbursed for all of the damages. After the staff at my insurance agent s office told me my destroyed property wasn't covered, I decided to fight the insurance carriers with every resource my firms have." While no suit has been filed, Mr. Rosenbaum is prepared to do so if he cannot get satisfaction on his flood insurance damage claims.
Martinez, Rosenbaum & Faria, LLP, and Silverberg & Goodman are accepting clients who suffered damage to their homes and property and whose insurance carriers are not paying for the damage. The partners at the firms have more than fifty years combined experience fighting insurance companies and some of the largest corporations in America.
"It isn't easy to get satisfaction from an insurer under the best of circumstances, but when flood damage is involved, it can be nearly impossible for a layperson. That's why we're working with Long Island residents to help them fight the insurance companies."
After nearly a week of steady rainfall and daily record high rainfall reports in many Northeastern localities, the damage may exceed the required $2.5 million to trigger a request for Federal help, but that hasn t happened yet. Beyond that minimum requirement, Governors must make formal requests for Federal aid, and the Governors of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut are still assessing the damage. It could be a long time before some people have safe, dry homes again on Long Island and the surrounding areas.
