Free Webbased Radio Show Asks SameSex Marriage Who Cares

A constitutional amendment to define marriage blurs the line separating church and state. The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution clearly states, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Now, our 108th Congress has introduced House Joint Resolution #56 to define marriage. Do we really want our lawmakers defining marriage If so, what else will they define for us

President Bush has decided it's8217;s time to step up his role in supporting House Joint Resolution #56 to define marriage. Specifically, Bush seeks to amend the U.S. Constitution to legally define marriage as follows:

SECTION 1. Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution or the constitution of any State, nor state or federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.

Why The results of such an amendment would legally deny law-abiding, tax-paying citizens access to more than 1,138 federal rights, protections and responsibilities automatically granted to married heterosexual couples. Who cares You should! It's8217;s a life and death issue for millions of committed couples who want to make legally binding decisions for their partners. And that's8217;s just ONE of the 1,138 federal rights, protections and responsibilities automatically granted to married opposite-sex couples currently denied to law abiding, tax paying same-sex couples.
