Cleveland, OH April 19, 2006 -- Lawyers Associated Worldwide (LAW), the international legal association of independent law firms will donate to the Jazz Foundation of America Katrina
Relief when they convene in New Orleans April 20-22, 2006 for their Americas regional meeting. Lawyers from member firms in Canada to South America will be in attendance. The New Orleans
member-firm, Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard, will host the regional meeting.
The mixture of lawyers and musicians might appear to be an unlikely one, but LAW has lawyers who are also singers and musicians, and when they gather around the world, music is often
included in their evenings together.Acknowledging the trials that myriad musicians have faced losing homes and work opportunities to the devastation of Katrina, LAW and Lugenbuhl,
Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard will make a joint contribution to the Jazz Foundation of America Katrina Relief. On Friday April 21, 2006, the lawyers will be listening to local jazz
musicians perform and presenting a check to Dr. Michael White, jazz musician and Xavier music professor. He will be appearing at a Jazz Foundation fundraiser at the Apollo in New York
City on May 4, where the gift will be acknowledged. The Jazz Foundation of America has been actively involved in supporting jazz musicians whose lives were devastated by Katrina. Through
its active fundraising, the foundation has helped with housing, replacing instruments and finding employment for jazz musicians.
Beyond the music, the international lawyers will be meeting in New Orleans to discuss a number of topics that will educate them on international business/legal issues. Members are
regularly in touch with each other for referring legal business on behalf of their global clients, and they will be receiving education on legal and technological developments that will
enhance their ability to serve their clients. After the final sessions, LAW members will also take a tour of the city to observe the impact of Katrina.
