TampaTimes.Com Unlikely Home for Launch of Revolutionary List Making...

With all the brouhaha over the use of the name 's8220;Tampa Times's8217; between the Times Publishing Co., the owner of the St. Petersburg Times, and Media General Operations - which runs The Tampa Tribune 's8211; some how it was overlooked the domain name www.tampatimes.com might just have a price. It might also prove to be the best marketing tool the new ground breaking software tool Tel Vac has available . Tel Vac is an easy to use software tool that allows the user to create millions of lists for free from the internet.

The owner of the domain name is gVista , a Tampa Bay based software development company. According to G-Vista spokesperson, Blaire Fanning, the domain name 's8216;TampaTimes.com's8221; has been owned by gVista for about seven years. 's8220;In the midst of developing a marketing strategy for Tel Vac, we decided our best marketing tool was right at our front door,'s8221; said Fanning, the marketing director of Tampa based advertising agency Myclassifiedads.net. 's8220;When you see the words 'sGorilla Marketing's to describe one parties tactics against another, it tends to peak ones's8217; interest, said Fanning, referring to an article published April 8 in the Tampa Tribune by Will Rodgers 's8220;Injunction Stays in the Tribune, Times Lawsuit.'s8221;

At the heart of the dispute is a free weekday paper the St. Petersburg Times began publishing in Tampa last winter called 's8216;The Tampa Times.'s8217; The Tribune'ss publishing companies -- Tribune Company Holdings Inc. and Media General Operations Inc. -- sued Feb. 17, saying they owned the right to the name, and that the name infringes on their trademark and the name infringed on their name of the now defunct newspaper called 's8220;The Tampa Times.'s8221; The Tampa Times ceased publishing in 1982.

In a counter suit filed last spring, Times Publishing Co. contends the name was abandoned. It also is asking for Media General to transfer to it'ss Internet domain names of Tampa Bay Times that the company bought after the Times launched its free tabloid.

Saying a mediation conference might satisfy both sides, U.S. District Judge James S. Moody Jr. ordered the companies to select a mediator by Aug. 17, 2006 and hold a mediation conference by the beginning of February 2007. The order was reported Tuesday in a Tampa Tribune article by Mari Robyn Jones.

's8220;So basically, we are just putting it out there, Fanning said. Anyone interested in checking out the Tel Vac tool can go to www.TampaTImes.com. Or call us at 813-926-6900.
