The Labour Relations Board received two complaints under the Labour Relations Act against United Steelworkers. The Complaints allege that 500 Members of USWA Local 6520 have been kept
under administration for almost two years without notifying the Labour Relations Board, and the members have been denied access to their local unions financial records and have not been
provided with Financial Statements in more than three years.
Members of United Steelworkers Local 6520 who work at Telespectrum Inc., in St. Catharines, Ontario have filed two complaints with the Labour Relations Board.
The members allege they have been kept under Administration and not allowed to elect their representatives for two years. The International Union appointed a President who had twice
resigned as a Union Steward because of complaints against her that she was siding with the Company.
The members have not been able to gain access to the Union Financial Records despite written and verbal requests to do so. No Financial statements have been provided to the members in two
years.
The members are requesting that they be allowed to elect their Union Stewards and Executive as set out in the United Steelworkers Constitution.
The members are also asking that their financial records be made available for inspection and that they previous years financial statements be provided to the members as required by the
Labour Relations Act.
