Birth Parents and adoptees take notice; open adoption records may be coming to a place near you, it was announced by OmniTrace - The People Search Experts (http://OmniTrace.com/Birth-Family.html), a leading provider of birth parent and adoptee search services. The state of Colorado will open adoption records for a large number of adoptees beginning June 29th, which adds to a growing list of states that are already open, stated Chris Maione, a birth parent search expert with OmniTrace Corp.
In fact, there are several states where open adoption records are already available--i.e., an adult adoptee can obtain an original birth certificate, and sometimes, additional adoption
records. Alabama, Delaware, Michigan, Kansas, Ohio, Oregon, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Alaska, Tennessee and Montana all have open or partially open records.
The great news is that other states such as New York, New Jersey and California all have pending legislation in regards to open adoption records, Chris Maione continued. The momentum is
really on our side.
Be aware, however, that obtaining open adoption records is only a first step in finding an adoptees's birth parents. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of how to navigate the system and
sometimes daunting paperwork is required to receive the information, stated Chris.
Adoptees conducting a birth parent search in an open adoption records state, need to request their records. When assistance is needed, companies such as OmniTrace Corp. (http://www.omnitrace.com/Birth-Family.html) work with adoptees to help retrieve this information. After obtaining their adoption records,
adoptees will likely have their birth mother'ss maiden name and perhaps an old address. Now they will need to obtain the birth mother'ss current name and current address information. This
might be difficult, as the birth mother has likely undergone a name change (perhaps several times), and she may not reside in the state where the adoptee was born.
OmniTrace estimates it has reunited more adopted people with their birth parents than all other professional search companies combined, according to their management. Our database
capabilities and genealogical expertise allow us to find birth parents and adoptees anywhere. We also provide free search consultations and we have established a free resource site The
Search Advisor (http://TheSearchAdvisor.com) to answer any questions an adoptee might have about their search, according to Chris Maione.
