A comedic political ad, which spoofs the faltering Florida Senate campaign of Congresswoman Katherine Harris, has been awarded with both the People'ss Choice and Jury Prize awards for the
June Contagious Festival at HuffingtonPost.com.
HuffingtonPost.com is a nationally recognized web site for political news and opinion founded in 2005 by Arianna Huffington. The site hosts the viral web content contest entitled the
Contagious Festival. This is the first time an entry has won both prizes.
Among the jurors for the Jury Prize are: Nora Ephron, Academy Award-nominated Writer and Director, Jeremy Zimmer, Founding Partner at United Talent Agency, Jim Bankoff, Executive Vice
President of Programming & Products for AOL, and Arianna Huffington writer, commentator and founder of HuffingtonPost.com.
The Rejected Katherine Harris Campaign Video dramatically outpaced its nearest competition on the site with over 64,000 viewings. While presenting a comedic charicature of Harris, the
video outlines voting irregularities from the 2000 presidential election and places responsibility for the election of George W. Bush squarely in Harris'ss lap.
Discussion of the ad has shown up on numerous Florida political sites and across the country.
The creator of the spoof ad Mark Greene, a New York based animator and film maker, has indicated that additional episodes are in development.
Katherine Harris is too rich a source of comedy to let her off the hook with just one episode, Greene said.
We'sre honored to have won in both categories. Our actress Sharron Bower really did an amazing job of channeling Harris.
