Renowned Chef Matt Costello has begun serving his exquisite six-course, prix fixe dinners on Thursdays at The Inn at Langley on Whidbey Island. "I look forward to the beginning of our Thursday night dinners every year," said Costello. "For us, it is the official start of summer."
Throughout the year dinner is served to guests of the inn as well as to the public Fridays through Sundays. Thursday-night dinners are offered from June through August only.
The restaurant is the heart of the 26-room contemporary Inn at Langley, which sits on a bluff overlooking Saratoga Passage. All of the guest rooms have private decks and 180-degree views.
Costello, who uses local seafood, meats, produce and artisanal cheeses, begins each meal by discussing the benefits of eating locally raised ingredients. He gives guests an overview of
the evening's menu and explains how the complementary wine pairings are selected.
The romantically lit restaurant features a double-sided river-rock fireplace and overlooks a lush herb garden. Guests can watch as meals are prepared in the open-display kitchen.
The Inn at Langley is consistently recognized as one of the world's best hotels. Last November, the Cond Nast Traveler's Readers Poll named the inn one of the top 100 mainland U.S.
hotels. The inn is on Travel + Leisure's 2006 Top 500 Hotels in the World List. This spring, Citysearch named the inn Seattle's Best Weekend Getaway Hotel.
Dinner in the restaurant is served at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and at 6 p.m. on Sundays. The price per person is $85, not including wine, tax or gratuity. Reservations
are required and can be made by calling (360) 221-3033. The Inn at Langley - www.innatlangley.com - is located at 400 First St. in Langley.
