Self Defense Experts Offers Free Training to Victims and Heroes
Scott Buendia (a self defense expert based in Beaverton, OR) announces 3 free training sessions for people who have experienced violence as a victim or a hero.
The people who have gone through violence should get special treatment to make sure they feel safe wherever they are, and that they can handle any situation that may come up. I feel as if this might be something that might be taken away from someone after going through a situation like that, and I'sd like to help.
The new program came about because of a recent news story where a man and a woman were attacked by a man with a baseball bat.
I feel compelled to help because I know I have the solution, Buendia says.
Scott Buendia teaches Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lee'ss art), Shamrock Submission Fighting (the type of martial arts you see in the UFC and similar organizations, and Filipino Martial Arts. The Filipino martial arts are famous for their advanced weapon skills, which makes Scott feel he is uniquely qualified to help people who have been attacked by an attacker with a blunt or an edged weapon. He also teaches how to defend yourself against a weapon on the ground or even if you have a weapon and you end up on the ground, an area that some martial arts do not delve into.
It is my hope that I can continue to help my community to grow stronger and feel more confident wherever they might go, Buendia remarked. This is about empowerment, not beating people up. You are telling the world that you have worth and that no one touches you without your permission.
