National Vital Statistics reports a curious and surprising phenomena says Garth Gibson, a respected Florida healthcare financial analyst.
Virtually unlike any other health measure where race is considered it seems a certain group of African American seniors have a health edge over whites says Garth.
's8220;Once senior African Americans reach the age of 85 their anti-aging powers kick in better than whites.'s8221;
Garth'ss research found, according to the most recent available United States Life Tables, at age 85 White females have a life expectancy of 7.1 years whereas for Black females it's8217;s
7.8 years.
For persons of such an advanced age seven months of additional life is quite significant.
's8220;I was stunned,'s8221; says Garth.
Not to be left out senior black males show the same longevity advantage over white males of the same age.
In fact the longevity gap actually widens as these seniors grow older.
This is a complete reversal of longevity trends among these racial groups where at younger ages white'ss have higher expected longevity than African Americans.
What's8217;s going on here
Upon further research there appears to be little notice or research on the 's8220;Black Fountain of Youth's8221; as Garth calls it.
So Garth'ss started a Senior Fountain Of Youth survey in an attempt to gain some insight.
Garth hopes from his intial research medical researchers would begin to gain deeper understanding of factors that lead to greater longevity.
