Bad teeth and a loss of confidence kept Kelly from laughing until her makeover included coaching from the woman with an irresistible laugh.
's8220;She found her smile and regained her laugh,'s8221; says Laughter Coach Beth Agnew who was invited by the W Network's8217;s Style by Jury makeover show to help one of their
candidates learn how to laugh again.
A certified laughter leader and acknowledged morale booster, Agnew's8217;s mission was to help Kelly break through the barriers that had made her suppress her laughter.
's8220;It was quite a challenge,'s8221; Agnew says, 's8220;Kelly had held back her laughter and her smile for so long that she didn's8217;t think she's8217;d ever be able to laugh again.
She was even afraid to laugh because of painful memories it brought back for her.'s8221;
Agnew wasn's8217;t sure she's8217;d be successful. 's8220;It was tense there for a while. We weren's8217;t at all certain that her laughter would come. I had to gain Kelly's8217;s trust
in a very short time, and let her know that it was safe to open up and laugh. On the show, you can really see her struggle.'s8221;
Key in Kelly's8217;s transformation was the cosmetic dentistry she received to repair her teeth and rejuvenate her smile. New clothes, dermatology treatments, a hip new hairstyle, and
contemporary make-up changed Kelly's8217;s appearance and boosted her self-esteem.
's8220;Now she looks great, feels great, and can show that joy with her laughter and her smile,'s8221; says Agnew. 's8220;It is rewarding to see how she's8217;s blossomed and gained so
much confidence.'s8221;
Style by Jury is a makeover series that focuses on making the best first impression possible. Over the course of seven days, makeover candidates get transformed from the inside out with
the help of experts in cosmetic dermatology, cosmetic dentistry, image, fashion, hair and make-up. Guest experts help with specific issues that enhance the makeover and make it
complete.
Agnew helped Kelly find her laugh again and start to rebuild her self-confidence. 's8220;Life can be hard at times, and we forget to laugh, mostly because there is nothing to laugh about.
But the healing power of laughter is undisputed. You can laugh, and should laugh, even when things are going wrong. Self-generated laughter gives the body the same boost as humor-based
laughter 's8211; it's8217;s just as powerful.'s8221;
Agnew thinks that everyone should learn how to generate their own laughter to combat stress, depression, and loneliness.
's8220;Laughter does beautiful things for your mind, your body, and your spirit,'s8221; she says. 's8220;Laugh every day. Laugh your stress away. Laugh for no reason.'s8221;
