Cash-strapped Brits spend almost six months of their life dreaming about landing a huge financial windfall according to UK Online Bingo (http://www.bingoport.co.uk) website BingoPort.co.uk. The online bingo site has conducted a survey that reveals that people spend at least three whole days throughout the year dreaming of what they would do if they won a large sum of money.
People spend 12 minutes a day - or almost an hour and a half a week - dreaming about unexpectedly receiving a pot of money. That adds up to a total of three days of every year.
The study of 2,000 adults by BingoPort.co.uk (http://www.bingoport.co.uk), also found a secretive 39 per cent of Brits wouldn't tell anyone if
they won a fortune. And amazingly almost 15 percent of people said they'd keep the windfall a secret from their own partner. The average amount of money Brits reckoned constituted a
windfall was 140,000.
Scott Logan from BingoPort.co.uk, which carried out the poll, said, 'It's staggering how much time we devote to dreaming about landing a big windfall, especially over a lifetime. Winning
money can be so life changing though - enabling people to go on dream holidays, buy flash cars, move house or just pay off debts.'
'When times are hard it's easy to have flights of fancy about how your life could be different if you came into money. The UK credit crunch has seen record amounts of time spent dreaming
of a windfall,' Logan continued. "Playing bingo online represents one of the best value ways of achieving a life changing win, with some progressive jackpots reaching well over 500,000
for stakes as low as 5p!"
But it's not just a fantasy for some as 38 per cent of people firmly believe they will come into money one day. And while a quarter of those would hide their windfall because they
wouldn't want their life to change, nine per cent admitted it was simply because they wouldn't want to share the cash. Another 23 percent would also be worried about receiving bragging
letters from strangers.
The research also revealed that not everyone would be worried about giving away some of their new fortune as 87 percent would share it with family or close friends.
And while 15 percent would treat themselves to a luxury holiday with the cash, more than a third would move house. Ten per cent would even give up work altogether and live off the
windfall.
