GridGain 1.6 Continuing Innovation in Java Grid Computing

GridGain System is pleased to announce immediate availability of GridGain 1.6, the latest version of open source Java grid computing framework. This version is the first major release since formal project lunch at the summer of 2007. This latest edition includes numerous improvements, core hardening and new features including:

- Unique Distributed JUnit 3/4 integration

- Dual licensing for LGPL and Apache 2.0

- Native support for Glassfish

- Improved documentation and examples

Nikita Ivanov, founder of the GridGain project says: "This is our first major release since we formally introduced this project just 4 months ago. We've accumulated enough of a feedback from hundreds of our early customers and we have made a number of significant improvements to the core of the product."

One of the new unique features available in GridGain 1.6 is a native integration with JUnit framework - an industry leading unit testing facility for Java. GridGain offers deep integration with JUnit allowing to easily run JUnit test suites in parallel fashion on the grid significantly reducing the time required for test runs and hence providing faster turn around for bug fixing and releases.

Nikita Ivanov adds: "With Distributed JUnit integration we continue to validate our core message that grid computing is a tool that can be used by businesses of all sizes. Small to mid-size businesses have similar performance and scalability problems in their lines of services and operations as bigger companies. We see, for example, that many IT companies of all sizes are rapidly adopting Continuous Integration techniques for their software development, and having ability to run battery of JUnit tests in parallel on the grid in the most efficient manner is a critical component for agile development for all of them."

Another important addition to GridGain is dual open source license approach that accommodates LGPL and Apache licensing followers - two biggest camps in Java open source community. With this new release in addition to the original LGPL GridGain adds support for Apache 2.0 license that allows Apache 2.0-based software to integrate with GridGain's APIs.
