Spliced Networks Announces AppOStm

April 13, 2005 -- Spliced Networks, a fast growing Open Source technology company, announced the upcoming availability of AppOS v1.0 this morning at a launch party hosted by Spliced Networks executives for employees, partners and customers. This first release of AppOS, offers significant security, performance and management benefits over traditional Enterprise Linux distributions.

"AppOS represents a significant advancement in the evolution of Linux based operating systems," said John Buswell, Chief Technology Officer at Spliced Networks. "AppOS requires no prior Linux knowledge to deploy and configure a secure solution. It effectively eliminates any claims by other vendors that Linux has hidden management and deployment costs associated with it. Any IT professional capable of using a web browser can configure AppOS."

Spliced Networks has engineered AppOS in such a manner, that they have eliminated the need for package management. Instead of having hundreds of individual packages with complex dependencies, AppOS uses an OS image, and one or more Application images. With AppOS, one can upgrade or roll back the OS or Application in a matter of seconds, without rebooting.

AppOS is currently available on Spliced Networks SN-1000 series of hardware appliances. AppOS is scheduled for full release later this month. AppOS will be released for x86, and x86-64 platforms.
