Paul Robbins Speaks to UNF Family Business Management Class

Paul Robbins recently presented ideas at a newly created class, Family Business Management, at the University of North Florida. He spoke at the request of the Instructor, Diane Denslow. Topics of the presentation included the advantages and disadvantages of a family business, managing conflict between family members, supervising and evaluating family members, and the roles and challenges of non-family members in a family business.

Denslow and Robbins first met at the Family Business Forum sponsored by UNF this past spring. At the Forum, Robbins served as a guest on a panel of speakers representing local companies.

Denslow said that she chose to ask Robbins to speak, 's8220;because of the interesting nature of his business and for the insights and advice that he could give to students as the owner of a successful family business that they could not obtain from a textbook. As a result, the students were able to gain insights into the decision making process of a highly successful family owned business. These insights and the information he provided will prove to be valuable to them in their future endeavors as family business owners, employees of family owned businesses, or advisors to them.'s8221;
