Commercial Fleet CIOs Face Reduced Budgets Seek Immediate ROI New EFT...

72% of CIOs and technology executives are facing static or reduced IT budgets due to the recession according to a new report from EFT Research. The report also shows that fleet technology executives are seeking technology investments that will have a clear and quick ROI.

The eyefortransport Fleet Technology Report presents the results of the annual Fleet Technology Survey, which polled over 200 senior technology executives from Commercial Fleets. The 2008 survey focussed specifically on the impact of the recession on fleet technology investments, and also considered green technology uptake and the costs of driver communications.

In reaction to the recession, fleet technology executives are centering their technology strategies on improving internal processes, optimizing routes, loads and schedules, and only seeking new technologies when they offer a clear and immediate ROI. Executives are working to achieve this with budgets that have been cut or reduced by 25% or more.

The report also provides benchmark figures for how much companies spend on communications technology for their drivers, and highlights which fuel-management technologies have been most effective at cutting MPG costs.

The report has been released in advance of the 2009 truckIT Forum, taking place October 20-21 in Dallas. The forum brings together over 200 senior commercial fleet technology executives for 2 days of high-level case studies, panel discussions and networking.

eyefortransport is providing 200 complimentary passes for qualified fleet CIOs and fleet directors, including 1 night'ss accommodation in Dallas. Executives can register online at: http://www.truckitforum.com/register.shtml

Sprint and ESRI have secured two of the limited sponsorship places for this Forum. Companies providing IT solutions, wireless technologies, consulting or other services to commercial fleets can participate by contacting eyefortransport: http://www.truckitforum.com/sponsor.shtml
