Danielle Lloyd Defends Herself After Being Stripped of Miss Great Britain 2006 Title This Week



Just days after being dramatically stripped of her 'sMiss Great Britain 2006's title, model Danielle Lloyd comments candidly on the controversy in a feature interview and pictorial on popular men'ss lifestyle site Savvy.com (www.savvy.com).

Lloyd made headlines on Friday (Nov. 3) when the Miss Great Britain organization (www.missgreatbritain.co.uk ) stripped her of her title, citing publicity given to her forthcoming Playboy appearance and allegations that she had been dating one of the judges before her victory.

Danielle is forthright on her reaction to being stripped of her Miss Great Britain crown and denies the personal allegations. Of course I am upset at losing my title, who wouldn'st be I don'st think it'ss fair that it'ss been made out to look like I lost my title because I was seeing Teddy before the competition.

In a statement on the Miss Great Britain (www.miss-gb.co.uk) website: Following recent claims in the press and magazines and the publicity given on the Playboy website for their next issue, we have sadly decided to strip Danielle Lloyd of her title as 'sMiss Great Britain 2006's effective immediately. We are very sad that this action has been necessary and we wish her the best for the future.

The organization says that a magazine interview revealed that she had been in a relationship with English premiership footballer Teddy Sheringham more than two months before the contest in February, and not started their romance on the night of the pageant, as previously thought. Lloyd had claimed she met her now-boyfriend Sheringham on the night of the competition, but an article in Eve magazine alleges that she spent last Christmas with him.

She emphatically denies the personal accusations over the timing of her friendship with Sheringham. The press have basically called Teddy and I liars and cheats and we certainly are not. Teddy is so well respected and the main people in our lives who really know Ted and I know the truth We were not an item before the competition and we certainly hadn'st met and that'ss what counts.

Have tabloids targeted you for stories before today, we asked Danielle Were the articles true or do they make up stuff Yes, mainly because of the domestic violence I'sve suffered. You and I both know that when it goes to print, every article can change, some more than others. Like the articles about Ted and I being in a relationship before the competition, that'ss a great example of made-up stuff.

Danielle posed for the December 2006 issue of Playboy. I had a feeling that if I did Playboy I might lose my title, but it is every girl'ss dream to be in Playboy and my dream came true. Stars like Sharon Stone, Kim Basinger and Pamela Anderson have appeared in Playboy, so I'sm happy to be in such good company. I'sm proud of my photos and if I decide never to pose nude again, at least I made Playboy!

Danielle has been open previously to the media about the domestic violence she has suffered. I understand that your boyfriend at the time dragged you from a car after an argument with him while the car was still moving

Yes, after falling to the ground I was then dragged along the road feeling every piece of gravel embedding itself into my back, legs, arms and head. Suddenly the car stopped as it hit the curb and rolled over my arm. I lost most of my hair in clumps and had severe cuts and bruising all over my body.

You now raise awareness about domestic violence. A lot of women stay with guys who treat them like crap. What do you say to those women

All I can say is if you'sre in a violent/possessive relationship talk to someone quickly because you start to believe your man when he says anything to hurt you. But all they are doing is making you think you need them and you won'st get anyone else to love you or want you.

Then the beatings come, you start to believe you deserve it because you'sve done something wrong. I spent most of my time in a track suit with my hair tied back and no makeup on. I tried to look at ugly as possible so nobody else would look at me. That way I knew I would not get a punch or a kick.

It'ss only when something really bad happens to you that you know you have to get away because if you don'st, you'sll get killed like I almost did. But you can'st afford to let that bad thing happen because you may not be as lucky as me.
