Stanford Publishing Courses announces an intensive 3-day Strategic Planning Course for media executives. Taught by faculty of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, this course attracts teams of top-level execs wanting to maximize corporate publishing strategies.

Palo Alto, CA March 7, 2008 -- On April 10-12, 2008, senior managers from around the world will convene at Stanford for an intensive 3-day course called Strategic Planning for Publishing Executives. Taught by faculty of Stanford's Graduate School of Business, this course offers teams of publishing execs the opportunity to analyze their markets and competition, and to create or realign their strategies based on new insights.

"Media executives are grappling with some of the most turbulent conditions ever experienced," says Holly Brady, director of the Stanford Publishing Courses. "How do you decide which ideas to pursue How do you efficiently allocate your resources Having a clear strategic plan that guides you in your decisions is of critical importance."

Stanford's Strategic Planning Course for Publishing Executives is designed to attract small teams of top-level managers who are looking to step away from the day-to-day demands of their businesses and work together to realign their organizational goals.

Each team participates in a detailed analysis of specific markets and competition, and develops solid strategies based on information provided in the course. Their final plan is then individually critiqued by the GSB faculty who teach the course.

"The curriculum is drawn in part from the work of James C. Collins and Jerry I. Porras, authors of Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies," notes Brady. "Sessions are organized around the same 'case method' of instruction used in Stanford's Graduate School of Business."

The course is taught by Chip Heath, PhD, and James A. Phills Jr., PhD., both of whom are professors of organizational behavior at Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Heath received his PhD from Stanford University. He has also taught in the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago and at the Fuqua School at Duke University.

Dr. Phills received his PhD from Harvard University. He has taught in the School of Management at Yale, and in the Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

For more than 30 years the Stanford Professional Publishing Courses has been offering courses, seminars and workshops for working professionals in magazine, book, and Web publishing. More information is available at:
