Behlman Replacement Power Supplies to Enhance Performance of Avionics Testing and Fire Control Systems in Air Force F16 Progr



Behlman Electronics Inc., known for its leadership in providing power products for industrial, commercial and military applications, has been contracted to provide replacement power supplies to improve the power performance and reliability of two systems in the U.S. Air Force's8217;s F-16 program.

In the first system, Behlman was chosen to develop a power supply for the F-16 Field Transportable Improved Avionics Intermediary Shop (IAIS) system, which is used to test all avionics units on the F-16 Fighting Falcon Multi-role Fighter Aircraft. The Air Force also turned to Behlman to provide a COTS replacement power supply for the F-16's8217;s Expanded Enhanced Fire Control Computer (EEFCC), which controls aircraft weapon delivery, sensor cueing, and navigation functions. 's8220;As with the old power supply in the IAIS system, the old power supply in the EEFCC system has been the cause of unacceptable support problems for the Air Force,'s8221; continued Storm. Behlman's8217;s COTS replacement power supply for the EEFCC system has successfully passed initial system functional testing; in addition to the design and manufacture of the units, the Air Force has contracted Behlman to perform qualification testing and prepare logistical support documentation.
