Now women fighters and fans will have a place to turn for breaking news, events, fight results, articles, interviews and training tips written and presented by their peers. www.Wfighter.com will provide a virtual community for all things related to women's fighting.
The website covers all fighting styles including women's MMA, boxing, kickboxing, Karate and Muay Thai and is the only site that serves as a one-stop-shop for women fighters. Other
websites devoted to women in martial arts offer only chat rooms, though claim to offer more.
For Wfighter.com several professional women fighters have agreed to provide weekly blogs. Staff writers will interview experts on the latest trends, gear, training techniques and also
provide profiles on top women fighters and trainers. The site will also offer a forum, photo gallery, school directory, a calendar of upcoming events, social networking and even allow
promoters to post fighting opportunities.
Fighters can set up profiles with photos, stats and contact info, and future plans include an addition of a pro shop selling gloves, wraps, protective equipment and fighting apparel.
"As a female fighter myself, I know we face unique challenges," said Lisa King, co-founder of the website. "We're finally getting to the point where women are accepted and taken seriously
in these sports. This site will provide them a true community - a way to connect and network."
Given the rising popularity of women in combat sports, with the first televised women's MMA bout recently featured on Showtime's Elite XC as well as Fatal Femmes Fighting and network
shows like Oxygen's Fight Girls reality series, the launch of the site is dead on in it's timing.
