Worldrecord holder breaks into the world of audio books

The holder of several world-records for breaking, including the record of a 15-board break with an elbow strike, Grandmaster Richard Byrne, has broken into audio publishing with a new audio CD and book set that teaches martial arts students to speak Korean. Working together with Master Dohyun Chang, owner of one of the largest martial arts facilities in the United States, a man who has been recognized repeatedly for his business accomplishments, and the holder of multiple black belts, these two masters produced a tool for people who wish to properly use Korean words and phrases used in training.

Grandmaster Byrne has appeared in countless movies and television shows. His martial arts skills have reached a broad audience. In 2005, he broke the record for breaking 15 boards with an elbow strike, breaking his previous record. He has written several books on martial arts study and proper techniques for breaking boards and other materials. He currently is director of multiple martial arts studios in New England, as well as founder of the American Tang Soo Do Association.

Master Dohyun Chang of White Tiger Tae Kwon Do participated in the organization, recording, and creation of this product. He provide the Korean voice for the audio CD, recording in the studio and working with Kay Ethier of Above & Beyond Language Learning Inc. to clarify the terminology and Hangul (Korean written language) usage. Master Chang's studio in Cary, NC is ranked as one of the largest Tae Kwon Do school in the country, and provides a wide variety of amenities to their martial arts students and instructors. He holds black belts in the following martial arts: Hapkido, Taekwondo, Aikido, Kickboxing, Judo, and Kendo.

Led by book publisher Above & Beyond Language Learning Inc., the Korean language CD was recorded in a Raleigh, NC recording studio. Recording included many words used by the martial arts community, as well as general phrases like "Thank you" and "You are welcome" which are needed by martial arts students and instructors. On August 31st, the CD and book set began selling on Amazon.com a well-known online shopping website.

The audio CD and companion book are geared toward martial arts students of all ages, and the set is expected to be a tool parents will also utilize in helping their children learn new skills. Children learning Korean martial arts must know certain phrases to participate in classes. Instructors and seniors -- those who have attained a higher level rank and wear colored belts denoting their rank -- must also know the phrases to conduct classes. The audio CD helps to teach the words and their proper pronunciations to those just starting or those who are beginning to teach, with the companion book so that learners may see the word's pronunciation in addition to hearing it. The book also provides the Hangul version of each word for more in-depth learning.

"I found this [book and audio CD] set to be very well organized, easy to follow along with, and easy to understand." said Jason Ladd, 3rd Dan (Tang Soo Do), founder of Pyung Ahn Martial Arts in Raleigh, NC. "The CD and the booklet are fairly solid references on their own but packaging them together is wonderful!"

The product may be purchased from AboveAndBeyondLearning.com or via Amazon.com and other online sites. Several martial arts supply stores are currently reviewing the product for addition to their own catalogs, and samples have been sent to instructors around the country so that they may try the product first-hand before recommend to their students. Several masters, including Jason Ladd, have already recommended the product.

Above & Beyond Language Learning Inc. is a Cary, NC-based corporation that publishes language learning and sound learning tools. Current products teach Korean, with additional products currently in the works geared toward learning languages, sciences, mathematics, and by rote topics via audio recordings. Future language-oriented products include several on Native American languages.
