Survey to Draw Respondents from Medical Device Manufacturers Across Europe
Building on five years of Model N Revenue Management surveys in the North American market, the inaugural European survey will allow the European medical device industry to obtain invaluable benchmarking data on pricing, customer contracting, and settlements processes. Responses will be gathered from Revenue Management stakeholders across the key functional areas of marketing, sales, and finance, including pricing and contracting professionals.
"The 2008 European Medical Devices Revenue Management Survey will deliver critical insights into the industry and competitive trends affecting key revenue life cycle business processes," said Drazen Nikolic, Executive Partner, Accenture, Medical Devices Industry. "For the first time, European device manufacturers will be able to benchmark and assess their revenue management practices and performance against specific peers and the wider industry."
Anticipated Increase in Contract Complexity
Experience from the global Medical Devices industry indicates that complexity in Revenue Management is on the rise. Pricing execution processes are under pressure from increases in competition and market consolidation, as well as from public pressure for lower prices. Institutional contracts are growing more dominant as non-contracted business shows a decrease from previous years. In addition, a significant majority of medical device companies anticipate increases in contract volume or complexity and indicate that contract non-compliance and rebate and administration fee overpayment are major concerns. Almost half indicate they have concrete plans to upgrade their pricing and contracting systems in the next year.
"Our experience with global medical device manufacturers confirms our belief in the continued adoption of custom or packaged revenue management solutions among top manufacturers," said Niels Skov, Managing Director, Europe, Model N. "We expect manufacturers to increasingly opt for industry-tailored, end-to-end solutions that manage gross-to-net revenue processes rather than continuing to utilize disjointed point or home-grown systems. Not surprisingly, large organizations are leading the way in migrating to comprehensive solutions that effectively address revenue leakage and compliance issues arising from an increasing complex business climate."
The survey is executed this February and March 2008 and upon completion, a full survey report and highlights of key findings will be published by Model N and Accenture.
