Chatlos Foundation Chosen as Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation of...



The Chatlos Foundation, Inc. has been chosen as the "Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation" of 2007 by The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Central Florida Chapter.



The award was presented to President William J. Chatlos and his wife Janet at the National Philanthropy Day breakfast held at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes Hotel on November 7, 2007. William J. Chatlos, grandson of the organizations founder, is the driving philanthropic force behind the foundation whose generosity significantly impacts the work of non-profit organizations. Also representing The Chatlos Foundation at the event were: Board chairman, Kathryn Randle, Vice President, Michele Roach, Treasurer, Cindee Random and other Trustees and staff members.



Over the years, The Chatlos Foundation provided the critical funds for Campus Crusade for Christ to make its move from California to Central Florida by committing $300,000 to the evangelical organization. In 1992 Orlando Regional HealthCare Foundation received $1,000,000 for much-needed equipment for what later became known as The Chatlos Center for Trauma Care, which still benefits all of Central Florida today. The University of Central Florida received an unusual multi-year grant to help with the establishment of its School of Nursing. The foundation also funded many Florida Hospital projects and most recently support the Cardiac Diagnostic Center at Florida Hospital Apopka, Florida.



Other area organizations that have benefited from grants are: Hospice of the Comforter, Jeppesen Mobile Eye Clinic, which provides eyeglasses for needy children, Lighthouse Central Florida and the Central Florida YMCA.



Since its inception in 1953 through May 2007, The Chatlos Foundation has awarded $99,440,753 to 6,317 local, national and international organizations.



500 local business leaders and philanthropists attended the 22nd Annual event which honored over 10 other individuals, foundations and corporations whose gift of time, expertise and resources contribute significantly to the quality of life in the community.
