Sonitor Technologies, Inc., the leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of ultrasound based Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) designed specifically for hospitals, have announced the launch of its new High Definition Receiver (HDR) at HIMSS09 Annual Conference 's38; Exhibition, in Chicago, April 5-8, booth #4845.
In addition to unique 100% room-level location accuracy, Sonitor'ss High Definition Receiver provides hospitals with the benefit of identifying multiple unique location zones in the same
room. Such zones can for example be a patient'ss bed, which enables automatic recording of patient and caregiver interaction events, or create a zone by the sanitation station to enable
monitoring of compliance with hand-washing rules. The High Definition Receiver is plug and play compatible with existing Wi-Fi or Ethernet networks.
The first orders for the High Definition Receiver for hospital applications have already been received, says Terry Aasen, CEO of Sonitor'ss American operations. In addition to several
full hospital deployments, many EDs and ORs, requiring separated location zones at patient-beds and nursing-stations are successfully using Sonitor USID. Our unique expertise and
leadership in location accurate RTLS has made Sonitor the preferred technology choice for leading hospitals and solution integrators alike.
The High Definition Receiver represents a milestone in our product portfolio development, says Dr. Wilfred Booij, Sonitor'ss CTO. While the HDR offers RTLS location performance beyond
anything else in the market place today, it also is a platform for further enhancements in the areas of RTLS location accuracy, ease of deployment and communication flexibility. The HDR
design has been carefully selected to enable easy integration with other RTLS related solutions.
As Hospitals strive to improve patient care and efficiency, they recognize the value of reliable room and sub-room location accuracy in Real Time Location Systems. Today, Sonitor'ss
automated computer logon-logoff location zones assist clinicians dependent on accessing computers to view patient information quickly and ensure that it is HIPPA compliant as the
clinician moves away from the computer screen. Sonitor'ss unique capability to enable reliable logging of location based interaction events is effective during a contagious disease
outbreak, such as MRSA. It can identify potential sources of the infection, as well as who has been exposed by an infected person, object or area. Another unique application is for
patient-fall detection where patient tags detected at floor level activate alerts to staff.
Sonitor'ss CEO for global operations, Jorn Husemoen, is equally enthusiastic and commented: The High Definition Receiver is a cornerstone in our unique tracking and location technology,
and will be an important component for a large number of industrial partners and software companies in the years to come. I am thrilled with the opportunities before us where our
world-class expertise in the field of acoustics is leveraged for very precise location and context aware applications. This will serve a global marketplace of businesses and partners with
growing needs for a robust, accurate and in-expensive tracking technology for complex indoor environments.
About Sonitor Technologies, Inc.
Sonitor Technologies is the developer, manufacturer and supplier of a proprietary ultrasound indoor positioning system (IPS), or real time location system (RTLS), that automatically
tracks, without interference and with reliable 100% room-level or better accuracy the real-time location of moveable equipment and people in complex indoor environments, such as
hospitals. Sonitor selected airborne ultrasound as the basis for it RTLS technology because of ultrasound'ss location accuracy and non-interference attributes, which is unlike RFID and
infrared based RTLS technologies. Sonitor Technologies's RTLS technology is designed for seamless integration with third party software and integration solutions. Sonitor Technologies was
founded in Norway in 1997. To learn more about Sonitor Technologies and its ultrasound IPS, please visit the corporate website at www.sonitor.com.
