Time challenged

Mention the word concierge and most people think of the traditional role of a hotel concierge as a luxury amenity in an upscale hotel. With people busier now than ever before it seems, men and women are seeking ways to to do everything that needs to be done.



On a flight from Chicago to Philadelphia, I noticed my seatmate looking at a bridal magazine so I congratulated her. Thanks, but I'sm beginning to feel overwhelmed. Between my job, looking for a place to live and planning for a wedding, I don'st have time to do it all, she lamented. I could use an assistant just to run a few errands for me to tackle the mundane tasks. Suddenly an idea was forming.



With more busy people who have less time for life'ss consuming tasks or lifestyle management, a personal concierge service may be just the tool. For busy professionals, having that personal assistant to run errands like pick up dry cleaning, drop off car for an oil change, plan a meeting, or grab an anniversary gift for the spouse is invaluable.



If time is truly money, then these services may be worth considering, not as an amenity but as a necessity. To further prove our idea and collect additional data, we are asking for participation in a 7-minute survey on concierge services.
