March 5, 2005 -- The Orbise gauge is the world leading Wire Rod and bar dimension system, installed on 150 rolling lines worldwide. It combines a high rate of measurement and high accuracy optics with the ruggedness required to keep working reliably in a hot and hostile environment. The Orbis range of gauges are suitable for product sizes 4mm-300mm.

The new Orbise gauge uses the same optical system as the older Orbis, with the same rotational speed and accuracy, but features the following operational improvements:
-580mm (22") long, takes up less space in-line
-No water seals
-No hollow stainless steel shaft, removes the need for expensive surface treatments of wearing surfaces
-Automated Calibration
-Simplified system diagnostics, user friendly
-Belt drive rather than pinion and gear
-Data transmission is via a fibre-optic link
