MTU announced today that it will display its next generation Series 4000 M63 engine in booth 621 in Hall A of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center at the International Workboat Show in New Orleans, Louisiana. The show runs from December 3 - 5, 2008.
MTU'ss long-stroke Series 4000 M63 engine from the Iron Men series is available with 8, 12 or 16 cylinders and has been specially optimized for the heavy-duty application requirements of
workboats such as ocean-going tugs, barges, fireboats and offshore supply vessels.
The key features of the Iron Men Series 4000 engines are efficient fuel consumption, long maintenance intervals and maximized availability and reliability. These features have been futher
advanced in the Series 4000 M53 and M63 models. Specific consumption has been reduced to 195 grams per kilowatt hour, maintenance intervals for major overhauls have been extended to up to
34,000 hours, and the power output of the 16-cylinder version has been increased from 2,680 to 3,000 bhp. The engine meets today'ss emissions regulations for EPA Tier 2 and is technically
equipped to fulfill stricter limits in the future.
In addition to the Series 4000 M53 and M63, MTU will also be displaying its Series 60 engine, a mainstay in the workboat market, along with its 16-cylinder Series 2000 engine.
The International WorkBoat Show is the largest commercial marine tradeshow in North America serving people and businesses working on the coastal, inland and offshore waters. 1,000
companies will display products and services for commercial vessels and the companies that build, service and operate them.
