Awarepoint Granted Patent for its Wireless Position Location and Tracking...

Awarepoint (http://www.awarepoint.com) Corporation, a provider of active RFID real-time location system solutions to the healthcare market, announced today it has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 7,312,752 (http://www.awarpoint.com/intellectual_property.html). The patent describes Awarepoint's techniques for accurate position location and tracking suitable for a wide range of facilities.

Using underlying ZigBee (http://www.zigbee.org/) technology and patented computational algorithms, Awarepoint's Real-time Awareness Solution (http://www.awarepoint.com/technology.html) returns asset location within 1-3 meters. Awarepoint's position accuracy goes beyond just room level, providing defined area location accuracy (at room level, in hallways and in open waiting areas). The configuration of the Awarepoint sensor network further eliminates "floor hopping" which can be an issue with other types of deployments, particularly Wi-Fi based applications. This patent further provides the basis for minimizing environmental variables and maximizing positioning reliability using a radio frequency sensor network.

Further patents are pending covering algorithmic techniques, such as self-calibration, floor discrimination, various sensor reading filtering, multi-path detection and mitigation, and validity checking.
