Blogging Software Developer Mullenweg to Address Major Internet Conference...

Matthew Mullenweg will be speaking at the Elite Retreat Internet marketing conference (http://www.EliteRetreat.info) this coming April 3 and 4 in San Francisco. Matthew Mullenweg is co-creator of WordPress, blogging software which is used by millions of users worldwide. WordPress takes on more significance at this time as iFOCOS released its study that more people in the U.S. are now getting their news from the Internet than from traditional media. The Elite Retreat was created and will be hosted by Internet marketing expert Jeremy "Shoemoney" Schoemaker.

Matthew Mullenweg co-created WordPress blogging software. WordPress is popular with bloggers and web developers around the world. WordPress is distributed for free though its Web site, http://www.WordPress.org. WordPress is popular due to its being no cost, its ease of creating new pages, and its ability to easily add on features called plugins that do things such as stop spam or integrate Google-sponsored advertisements into the website.

WordPress, Matthew Mullenweg and the Elite Retreat take on a greater significance since iFOCOS (http://ifocos.org) announced that a recent study showed "nearly half of respondents (48%) said their primary source of news and information is the Internet, an increase from 40% who said the same a year ago."

Matthew Mullenweg is the founder and CEO of the company Automattic which works on many WordPress-related projects and develops other software packages. Askimet, one of Automattic's products, is added on to WordPress by many webmasters to block the spam that can be a nuisance to those who administer blogs or run sites that use WordPress.

When the head of Google's search spam team, Matt Cutts, was asked about WordPress and Matthew Mullenweg, he said, "Matt (Mullenweg) is well-known, and deservedly so, because of his fantastic work with products like WordPress and Akismet. WordPress is one of the most popular blogging packages in the world, and it offers tons of flexibility. I think Matt's character is reflected in his software, which is helpful, friendly, and open."

When well-known Internet marketer Aaron (TheMadHat) Chronister was asked what he thought about Matthew Mullenweg's plans to speak about WordPress, he said, "The Elite Retreat addition of Matt Mullenweg to discuss WordPress and blogging is like having Thomas Edison in for a lesson on light bulbs"
