Pre-EARTH DAY -- This Fall, American citizens will have a chance to vote red or vote blue for their next president. But this Earth Day, citizens of planet earth can cast a different kind of vote: a green vote for the most earth-friendly products for their home and lifestyle.
From home hardware to cabinetry, countertops to rooftops, water conservation to landscaping, the votes are being cast across the World Wide Web as part of the GREEN LOG Home &
Lifestyle Awards, an environmentally responsible social awareness campaign originated by Jim Young, an organic home builder and the incoming chairman of the Log Home Council of the
National Association of Homebuilders.
"You don't have to live in a log home to experience a truly natural, renewable or sustainable lifestyle. But it helps. Log homes are the greenest, most natural and organic form of
dwelling in the
history of homebuilding," says Young. "Industry research has compared the greenhouse gases and carbon emissions involved in other types of residential home construction and log homes
(http://www.loghomes.com) come out way ahead."
Ultimately, it is the design of the home that is most important. "It begins with green home design (http://www.mtnarchitects-loghomes.com)," said Tim Schafer, Lead Architect at Mountain Architects and a co-founder of the GREEN LOG Awards.
"With the right design in place, the home can optimize the use of environmentally friendly products and systems."
Some of the solutions will floor you. Take Nature's Carpet, a fine carpet made entirely from wool, a naturally renewable resource, or Cork floors made from the bark of the cork oak tree.
The US Green Building Council assigns credits to these environmentally-friendly products that count towards the new green industry standard known as LEED certification.
Dozens of the best ideas in green home products (http://www.greenlogawards.com) are now being showcased by the GREEN LOG Awards at www.greenlogawards.com including Websites and blogs where daily lifestyle tips and product information are readily available.
Based on an awakening of interest in all things green, the voting period for the GREEN LOG AWARDS has been held over by popular demand. So whether you are thinking of voting Red or voting
Blue this November, don't forget to vote Green for Earth Day. Do it at greenlogawards.com Your home and your planet will thank you for it!
