Chinese Filtration Expert Leads List of Speakers at AFS Conference

Richfield, MN July 30, 2008 -- The 2008 American Filtration & Separations Society (AFS) Fall Conference will be held September 23-25th in Charlotte, NC at the Hilton University Place. The Conference will have eight plenary speakers from end-users, consultants and government agencies who will detail many of the un-met needs in filtration.



Wang Yanxi, chair of the Chinese Filtration Society, will be speaking on "China's Filtration and Separation Industry." His talk discusses the development of the Chinese economy over the past 30 years which drives China's Filtration and Separation industry into a fast track of progress. As the serious problems of environmental protection arise, a large demand for solutions are emerging.



Additional speakers include Dr. Eric Peterson from the Idaho Natioanl Laboratory and Rik van Hemmen from Martin, Ottaway, van Hemmen & Doan, Inc. Dr. Peterson currently leads the Laboratory's Process Science and Technology Business Line. His talk will explore several areas of need with the filtration/separation industry, beginning with highly selective systems. He will also provide a glimpse of new developments within science-based agencies and industry.



Rik van Hemmen will examine challenges within "Filtration in the Marine Industry." This presentation will discuss issues related to filtration and separation in the maritime industry and will identify emerging opportunities.

The conference is comprised of two tracks, one on Infrastructure and Sustainability and the other is on Filter Testing. In total there are over 60 presentations at the conference. The conference is preceded by a day of filtration short courses on September 22 at the same location.
