Comedy Duo Premieres New Show at Second City Theater

's8220;Would you like a little accordion with your comedy's8221; You's8217;ll get it's8212;-along with a lot of laughs--in DEB AND RICK ON A STICK, a new variety/sketch comedy show created by comedy partners Richard Kuhlman and Deb Hiett. DEB AND RICK ON A STICK will have four local performances in July at the Second City Theater in Hollywood before the dynamic duo hits the road for the northern end of the Big Orange. From there, it's8217;s on to the Big Apple!

's8220;It's8217;s like Mike Nichols and Elaine May, but with an accordion,'s8221; laughs Kuhlman in explaining the show. 's8220;Look, there's8217;s only so much 'sDeal or No Deal's a TV-viewing audience can take,'s8221; adds Hiett. 's8220;Sometimes, people need a little live accordion, whether they know it or not.'s8221;

Rick Kuhlman, a Second City alumnus, currently stars in Second City's8217;s ongoing Totally Looped comedy show. Television audiences have seen him in a variety of programs, including Seinfeld, Grounded for Life, and My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé, where his improv skills proved a valuable asset. Rick performed onstage with Deb at L.A.'ss Improv Olympic West in 's8220;Graceland,'s8221; and has also directed over a dozen theater productions in and around Los Angeles.

Deb Hiett is a busy actress and comic who spent years doing theatre in New York, as well as playing accordion in the 's8220;cabaret pop noir's8221; band, Orson Welk. Since relocating to the west coast, she has appeared on Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, and been featured in three opening comedy sketches on Real Time with Bill Maher. Most recently, Hiett was proclaimed 's8220;a house-rattling findwith deft comic timing's8221; by The Los Angeles Times.

DEB AND RICK ON A STICK features sketches about love on the FedEx voice-activated phone line, couples therapy with a twist, and two writers who desperately try to make sense of the convoluted storyline of a famous 1940's8217;s film. In a musical section of the show, Hiett plays the accordion and she and Kuhlman take the audience through a unique musicology lesson.

's8220;There is nothing like live theater, and we's8217;re thrilled to be performing at Second City,'s8221; exclaims Hiett, who has been writing with Kuhlman for the past three years. Following their Los Angeles engagements, the pair looks forward to taking their entertaining, hour-long show to theaters in Northern California and New York.

DEB AND RICK ON A STICK performs Thursday July 6, and Friday July 7, at 8pm; Saturday, July 8 at 9:30 pm; and Thursday, July 20 at 8pm. The Second City Theater is located at 8156 Melrose Ave. Los Angeles. All tickets are $10. Call 323/658-8190 for reservations, or visit www.debhiett.com for more information.
