Leadership Academy Presented by National Association of Women in Construction



The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), along with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), has announced an intensive three-day Leadership Academy. It will be held at Clemson University in Clemson, N.C., from Oct. 28-31, 2007.



NCCER'ss NAWIC Leadership Academy will provide a wealth of knowledge to participants. It is taught by expert instructors who have been in the industry for more than 30 years. The sessions will total twenty-four hours of lectures, case studies and student participation. Leadership skills are reinforced through case studies, group projects, team-building exercises and evening homework assignments.



Academy participants will share their own experiences with other women from across the nation. Topics include: leadership and management styles; negotiating techniques; time management; conflict resolution; problem-solving techniques; and conducting effective meetings.



Bonding experiences will be reinforced with informal networking opportunities, class participation exercises and in evening discussions. The sessions will be conducted in a rustic cabin setting at Clemson University'ss outdoor laboratory facility on Lake Hartwell.



Tuition for NCCER'ss NAWIC Leadership Academy is $1,295. This includes three nights of lodging, all meals, course material, transportation to and from the airport, and nightly activities. All women in construction are invited to participate. Completion of the Leadership Academy will merit three continuing education credits, a certificate of completion and wallet card from the NCCER National Registry. Space is limited to the first 30 enrollees.
