Parminder Jassals Work with Greater Louisville Inc. Gets Media Attention

As Director of Workforce Solutions for Greater Louisville Inc., the chamber of commerce and economic development agency for Louisville, Ky. and Southern Indiana, Parminder Jassal's job is to match companies that are hiring with qualified job seekers. A recent article in Business First of Louisville explains that she is serving the greater good with multiple side projects, though, which take her all over the nation.

In addition to Jassal's work with Greater Louisville Inc., she is also a senior associate with FutureWorks, a Seattle-based consulting and policy development firm, and has been director of the HIRE Education Forum, which is a consortium of regional colleges and universities that advocate the growth of postsecondary studies. She is a contract researcher at the University of Louisville, where she received a doctoral degree in organizational leadership focusing on economic development last year. Jassal is even working with coauthor Cathy Fyock on her first book that is due out before the end of the year, "People Power 2020," which will look into worker recruitment.

The recent article in Business First of Louisville explains how the 40-year-old wife and mother of two is working on getting her private pilot's license to get across the country for appointments faster and more easily. While her main duties are with Greater Louisville Inc., her various projects take her all over the country in an effort to serve the greater good. "What I want to do is make a difference in this world," she said in Business First.

This is not the first time Jassal has been featured in Business First of Louisville, either. Back in 2007, she was profiled for her position as the Director of Workforce Solutions for GLI. The profile explained her hometown of Ludhiana, Punjab, India, her education leading up to a doctorate from the University of Louisville, and her varied career path. She was also featured in Business First's "Forty Under 40" Reception in 2004, which recognized area young professionals.
