Green Tortoise Adventure Travel, best known for off-the-beaten-track camping trips in exotic locations

such as Alaska and Central America, will drive a busload of supplies to hurricane survivors in Louisiana.

On Friday, September 30, a bus will depart from 2021 Brush St, West Oakland, for the deep south, driven by Green Tortoise employees donating their time. Co-organized by Louisiana-bred Cathy Milgrom, formerly of Mountain People's Warehouse (now United Naturals), contributors include Rainbow Grocery, The Shelton Brothers, Spectrum Organics, Traditional Medicinals, Smuckers/Knudsen, Tumbleweed Distributing, and Lundberg Farms. Upon arrival in Louisiana, the donated cargo will be distributed to Lake Charles Food Bank and Common Ground Wellness Center in Algiers.

Anyone interested in making last-minute donations (especially of tarps), or helping with bus load-in on Friday, should contact Lyle Kent, President of Green Tortoise Inc, at 415-722-0471, or Cathy and Phillip Milgrom at 530-265-6193.
