Seattle, Wash. August 2, 2008 -- New officers and board members were elected at the WDTL's annual convention held at Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia in July, 2008.
The new officers are: Ted Buck, Stafford Frey Cooper, Seattle, President; Jillian Barron, Sebris Busto James, Bellevue, President-Elect; Emilia Sweeney, Carney Badley Spellman, Seattle
Treasurer; and Matthew Wojcik, Mullin Law Group, Secretary. New Board members are: Melissa Habeck , Forsberg & Umlauf, Seattle; Erin Hammond, Fain Sheldon Anderson & VanDerhoef,
PLLC, Seattle; Jonathan Dirk Holt, Scheer & Zehnder LLP, Seattle; and James B. "J. B." Meade, Forsberg & Umlauf, P.S. Tacoma
President Ted Buck is a shareholder at the Seattle firm of Stafford Frey Cooper. He graduated from University of Puget Sound with a B.A. in Physics and the University of Washington with
his J.D. While a substantial portion of his practice has been devoted to representing police agencies and officers in cases alleging police misconduct, his practice also involves
commercial disputes, employment disputes and agricultural related issues. Ted further provides substantial pro bono assistance to a number of charitable organizations, including the
Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation. He has repeatedly been recognized as a "Super Lawyer" by Washington Law and Politics magazine.
President-Elect Jillian Barron is a shareholder with Sebris Busto James in Bellevue. She assists employers in developing effective, legally compliant employment policies and resolving
emergent problems. She has successfully represented clients in trial and appellate courts, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative agency proceedings. Barron also conducts workplace
investigations for public and private employers, and serves as a mediator. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. Barron attended Reed College and received a B.A. in Fine Arts from
Alfred University. She received her J.D. in 1988 from Columbia University School of Law and also received a Masters Degree in International Affairs from the Columbia School of
International and Public Affairs.
