The Redemptive Film Festival Forms New Alliance

The Redemptive Film Festival has formed a strategic alliance with International Justice Mission (IJM) to help in the rescue and empowerment of victims of modern day slavery. Today there are more than 27 million slaves in the world, more than the number of people extracted from Africa throughout the 400 years of the slave trade.

The Redemptive Film Festival is an international film festival aimed at providing a forum for filmmakers (professionals or students), to showcase and be rewarded for their work on themes that depict the redemptive purposes of God, either through human beings or supernatural occurrences; and to participate in the process of redeeming and empowering victims of modern day slavery. Dr. Chris Cunningham, co-founder and visionary of the Redemptive Film Festival, has worked in the media for more than 22 years. Dr. Cunningham sees this alliance as invaluable to his organization's mission. He explains, "Our mission is to tell the story of the power of the Holy Spirit through all media and the preaching of the Gospel, so that people will know that through the finished work of Jesus, the Kingdom of God is alive and active in the world..." IJM is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. Through our partnership, we will assist lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local officials to ensure immediate victim rescue and aftercare, to prosecute perpetrators and to promote functioning public justice systems.

Now in its third year, the Redemptive Film Festival is fast becoming the leading competition for family friendly films. Films can be of any genre and need not be overtly religious, nor draw conclusions. The partnership between the Redemptive Film Festival and IJM has a four-fold purpose which includes victim relief, perpetrator accountability, victim aftercare, and structural prevention.

Dr. Cunningham adds, "The Redemptive Film Festival will be donating 60% of all proceeds from the 2008 season of the Redemptive Film Festival and 100% donated through the festival for 'REDEMPTION.'"
