Heinrich Dahms Interviewed on Dutch Classic Radio
May 13, 2005 -- BuzzMedia Network's Heinrich Dahms, director and co-producer of the upcoming film, The Wonder Child, on the life of Mozart's sister, Nannerl, today answered a number of questions about the project in a live broadcast on Dutch Classic Radio NL4.
Dahms stated that the film, due for principal photography in January 2006, will star Dutch actress Johanna ter Steege, who is a winner of a European 'Felix' award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1988 thriller, SPOORLOOS (George Sluizer). Ter Steege is known for roles in international hits such as Vincent & Theo (Robert Altman), Rembrandt, and Paradise Road (Bruce Beresford) opposite Glenn Close.
When asked about the role music is to play in The Wonder Child, Dahms explained that he intends to use mainly music of the period performed on original instruments, such as the harpsichord, clavichord, virginals, and of course Mozart's Fortepiano. Some of the most moving moments in the film are those in which Nannerl performs - in some scenes playing duets with her younger brother, Amadeus: "Both from a musical and marketing perspective, we would like to involve two performers of world renown to perform those duets. We believe the soundtrack could assume a very vibrant life of its own alongside the film."
The Wonder Child is the first of three films in the Wunderkind Trilogy on the lives of gifted, 18th century female musicians, including Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn, to be produced by Van Vogelpoel and directed by Dahms. The award-winning screenplays for The Wonder Child and Clara were written by American screenwriters Anthony Zaccaro and Miriam Queensen respectively.
The Wonder Child also marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between BuzzMedia Network and Ventus Film for the production of up to six films to be directed by Dahms and produced by Ventus over the next four years.
