Super Anon Receives 2005 Best Short Mockumentary Award from Bare Bones International Film Festival
May 18, 2005 -- "Super-Anon," the 10 minute short film produced for Vancouver's 2004 Reel Fast 48hr Film Festival (winning a Significant Achievement Award for Ensemble Acting and the Best Film Award), had its American debut at the first annual Faux Film Festival www.fauxfilmfestival.com held April 1 - 3, 2005 in Portland, OR where it was selected as an Audience Award winner. Producer/actor Deb Sears was pleased to be present at the festival and participated in a Q&A following the screening of "Super-Anon." April 18 - 24, 2005 Sears also attended the 6th Annual Bare Bones International Film Festival www.barebonesfilmfestival.com where "Super-Anon" received 3 screenings and was honored with the "Best Short Mockumentary Award" at festival the awards ceremony held on Sunday, April 24th in Muskogee, OK.
The Faux Film Festival is the first and only film festival of its kind. With the exception of "mockumentary," other festivals don't have faux film sections. Categories for the Faux Film Festival are Faux Trailer, Faux Commercial, Faux Training, Faux Public Service Announcement, Mockumentary, Spoof, and Faux Pas. The Oregon Film & Video Foundation's 470-seat Hollywood Theatre www.hollywoodtheatre.org plays host the Faux Film Festival. Located in the heart of the business district along Northeast Sandy Boulevard, Portland's Hollywood Theatre has provided family entertainment since it opened as a vaudeville theater in July 1926. "Super-Anon" screened Saturday, April 2nd at 7:20PM.
BBIF's motto is: "We champion the Indie Filmmaker, Screenwriter & Actor" and their aim is to be the "World's Friendliest Film Festival." The World's Largest Little Festival: (BBIFF) is held in the "World's Friendliest City", Muskogee, Oklahoma (www.cityofmuskogee.org), hometown of actors such as Robert Reed (Brady Bunch) and Clu Gulager (Veteran of over 60 movies and TV series). The festival is the largest annual gathering of independent moviemakers, screenwriters, actors, directors and producers in the State. It is centered downtown with all venues within walking distance of one or two blocks. The idyllic city of 40,000 boasts the best barbeque in the southwest, pristine lakes (20 minutes from downtown) and Museum and historic sites that celebrate the old west and Oklahoma's Native American heritage.
On Saturday, August 21, 2004, "Super-Anon" was selected by a panel of celebrity judges, out of 79 films in competition, as one of the top 11 films to be screened at the 2004 Reel Fast Gala Screening & Awards event held at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom (www.reelfastfilms.com).
Following the screenings, awards for Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Editor, Best Use of Inspiration Package, Significant Achievement, People's Choice, and Best Film were announced with two awards going to "Super-Anon."
Produced by Stephen H. Plitt Production Services August 13 - 15, 2004, "Super-Anon" is a sneak peak into a therapy session of a newly formed, highly secretive, 12-step group for relatives of Super Heroes. Elements contained in the inspiration package for this improvised film were a staple remover (Surprise), a colour photo of the torso of a white horse wearing a straw hat on an ocean pier (Photo), playground (Location), 4 Chime Bells (Sound Bite), and some Asian cookies/candy (Craft Service).
"Super-Anon" was shot on a Panasonic DVX100 camera.

"Super-Anon" also screened on February 13, 2005 at Toronto's 2005 World of Comedy International Film Festival (www.worldcomedyfilmfest.com).
