Independent Feature Film to Premiere in Ithaca
For an independent movie that was shot in Ithaca, NY and takes place in an underground caf in Buffalo it seems appropriate to have the premier in an underground theater.
"We know the audience this movie is best-suited for and this is the same audience that would go to Cinemapolis, one of the many art-screens in Ithaca," said Eric C Lindstrom, the film's producer. "The location of the theater, being underground and downtown, is just an added, and interesting, plus." The invitation-only premier event is scheduled for a Sunday, August 14, 2005 matinee.
"Waiting on Alphie" features two main characters, Gus and Alphie. Gus, flown in from Chicago to Buffalo, meets Alphie at the underground caf and awaits the order - which will come via the caf's payphone - on whether to kill Alphie or let him go. The two spend the night in a classic standoff and share barbs, appetizers and stories about "the life." The original screenplay was written by the film's director, Kevin Hicks who has numerous other screenplays to his credit.
Shooting for this film commenced in early April on a sound stage in Ithaca and features Buffalo actors James K. Fulater, Lance Zurek and Matthew Landon. The movie
also features Kendall McAdams, Lou Sposito and Keri Szymanski, all from Ithaca. The official movie soundtrack
also features artists from Hawaii, Missouri, Ohio, Florida, Buffalo, England as well as Ithaca.
